Applying for a Postal Vote

In order to vote by post at the upcoming Scottish Parliament election you must first complete a postal vote application form and return it to the Electoral Registration Office. The deadline for postal vote applications is 5pm on Tuesday 6 April 2021.

Please be aware that as it is the Easter holiday this weekend, there are no mail collections on Sunday or Monday. That means that any applications for a postal vote put in a pillar box after Saturday lunchtime will not reach the ERO until Wednesday which is after the deadline.

You can request the issue of a pre-populated postal vote application form by contacting our office via email – or by phone during normal office hours – 0131 344 2500.

We will issue your application form by post along with a pre-paid return envelope.

Please Note: A completed postal vote application requires your signature. Whilst the completed application can be returned via email as an attachment, it must contain your signature.
