Click here for Scottish Government information regarding NDR and Coronavirus

The Scottish Government announced several changes to Non-Domestic Rates for financial year 2020/ 21 to help businesses deal with the impact of COVID-19. We’re working with our partners to implement these changes as a priority. Our web pages for Covid-19 business and employer support can be found here.

An online application form will shortly be available on our website for the £10,000 and £25,000 cash grants for businesses. As a temporary measure citizens can complete a word application form on our website and email it to nondomesticrates@edinburgh.gov.uk. We are working towards issuing grants from 1 April 2020.

A summary of the Scottish Government policy changes is attached for information, this covers various schemes available to businesses and which agency is responsible for paying them.   The City of Edinburgh Council will process the following:

  • A full year’s 100% non-domestic rates relief for retail, hospitality and tourism business ratepayers. (this will be done automatically for 2020/21 – businesses do not need to apply for this).
  • £10,000 grant awarded to all small firms receiving the small business bonus or rural relief (businesses will apply for this through the online form mentioned above). Or
  • £25,000 grants for hospitality, leisure and retail properties with a rateable value between £18,000 and £51,000 (businesses will apply for this through the online form mentioned above).

In addition to our website (www.edinburgh.gov.uk) regular updates are available on Twitter at @edinhelp or @edinCC.
