The Valuation List
The Valuation List is compiled and maintained by the Assessor. It identifies the valuation band applicable to every dwelling in the Lothian Area.
New dwellings are added to the Valuation List and properties that cease to be dwellings are deleted from it on a daily basis. Once the Assessor has determined the valuation band applicable to each property, details are sent to the Finance Department of the relevant Local Council who will calculate the actual amount payable and issue the appropriate bill, taking into account all aspects of relief and discounts etc
The Valuation List can be viewed online, via the Scottish Assessors Portal website.

Details of newly constructed dwellings and of dwellings formed from the alteration of other properties are normally sent to the Assessor by the planning and technical services departments of the Local Council. The Assessor aims to have 90% of all such properties added to the Valuation List within 3 months of the date of entry.
Clearly this target can only be achieved if the Assessor is notified that the property is occupied as soon as possible after the date of entry. If you are the occupier of a dwelling that is not entered in the Valuation List, or, if you consider that your dwelling should no longer be shown on the Valuation List you should contact the Assessor immediately.
